Well, we were going on holiday to California – where I’d dreamed of going my entire life. My husband, Ben, planned on proposing to me in San Francisco with a view of the Golden Gate bridge. I’d mentioned in the past whenever we’d talked about marriage that I didn’t mind how I was proposed to as long as it wasn’t something really public and I was genuinely surprised. Since California was such a big trip for us, I think he was worried that I might be expecting it a little there. He also bought the ring a couple of months earlier, and the thing with Ben is, he has no patience!
To cut it long story short – it was a normal Sunday night in our house, I’d just been in the shower and came down to candles lit all on the floor of our living room – he got down on one knee and did it there and then! It was lovely – totally unexpected and actually so perfect that it happened in our home.
I knew everything I didn’t want, but not what I’d like. It was actually my best friend and Maid of Honour, Ellie, who found the Laurence dress on Pinterest and sent it to me. I’d never seen a wedding dress like it – I was in love! I looked up Daughters of Simone and started following you on social media, and I just knew your brand was the perfect fit for me and our wedding! I tried on so many of your dresses and loved every single one, but the Laurence was still the winner in the end. So I guess Ellie knows me better than I know myself!
What song did you walk down the aisle to?
Green Day – Good Riddance. Our friend, Ewan, played it on acoustic as I walked down the woodland aisle. That song is the reason we met so it means a lot to both of us. I was on a night out when that song came on in a club I was in – we were both on the dance floor at the time and saw each other go crazy when it came on. We started talking to each other and it all went on from there!
There was a moment before we entered the tipi for the wedding breakfast – we’d just done some couple shots with our photographers, The Wild Bride. We were standing near the entrance and could see and hear the buzz of everyone laughing and having such a good time. It was so lovely to see friends and family members who had never met before getting on so well and it meant so much to us. That is definitely a moment that stands out.
