“I knew he was the one the day I met him.”
I was new in town; I didn’t know a lot of people yet. I met a girl at work and we became friends. One day she invited me to her cousin’s house. She wanted to meet her cousin’s friend and they settled everything to make it possible. She needed a friend to join her, so she invited me, I said sure. I remember I was so excited for her. Who could ever think that her cousin and I would be the lucky ones.
I remember when I saw Mario, I really liked him.
I know it sounds cliche, but I am sure it was love at first sight. I had the time of my life that night, we partied all night, we talked about everything, we danced, we sang, everything was perfect, at the end of the night he asked for my number and from that day on we were together.
It was a dream, I saw the Mosshart gown on Instagram and I saved the picture. It was love at first sight too! I thought ‘wow what a beautiful dress’, but I never ever imagined it could be mine one day.
My advice for brides would be: hire the most professional team you can.
Especially your wedding planner. I believe that a good wedding planner has the power to make your day magical. Hire your vendors not because they are the most popular in town but because they understand what you want.
I loved that it was a very intimate and authentic wedding, just with the people who really care for us, people who truly share the joy of the love that we were celebrating. Mexican weddings are usually very big but I always dreamed of something different.
Every single detail was planned around our relationship, for example the reception was in an old historical house of Merida, the city where we met, mojito drinks and cuban music for welcoming our guests because of our Cuba trip, tacos for dinner because it’s our favorite food, cempasuchil, or marigolds, in the centerpieces because it is the flower that reminds me of my childhood.
For the menu and invitations, we used the star constellation of the night we met. The perfume I wore on our day was one he bought me on our engagement trip in France at an artisanal perfume shop. We celebrated the wedding in my favorite church that is one of the most antique churches in Merida, Yucatán.
And so much more, I would never end.
But my favorite detail was a little palm hummingbird hidden in the centerpieces with a little parchment with the following story:
This beautiful legend tells the love story of two mexican lovers.
