X THE PROPOSAL
When we were dating, Andrew (my husband) and I used to go to Balboa Island in Newport Beach ALL of the time to walk around the peninsula and talk for hours. So when Andrew asked me if I wanted to go to Balboa on the night of June 12, 2015, I didn’t think anything of it! As we were walking on the beach and the sun was setting, Andrew told me all of the things that he loved about me, and that he wanted to be by my side for the rest of our lives and serve as an example of how much Jesus loved me. He got down on one knee, pulled out the most beautiful ring EVA, asked the question, and I said yes!
X THE VENUE
We got married at The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens in Palm Desert, California. Even though I grew up in Palm Desert, it never crossed my mind to look into having our wedding there until my mom suggested it. When I saw the gorgeous ceremony location with string lights overhead and the reception area that was surrounded by palm trees, I knew that it would be the perfect location for our desert wedding
If I had to describe the feel that I was aiming for our wedding, it would be boho glam. I wanted our wedding to reflect the desert beauty that I grew up in, but I also wanted lots of pink, glitter, and gold…because who doesn’t love some sparkle?!
I KNEW that I wanted an off the shoulder lace gown — the problem was finding one that made me feel like a bride. I looked at a few bridal boutiques in LA, but didn’t find the one that felt like ME! Then, I went to Love and Lace Bridal Salon in Irvine and tried on the DOS “Winnie” gown — it was simple, elegant, timeless, and sweet — and my mom, maid of honor, and I knew right then and there that this was the one! It was my DREAM wedding dress — even my husband couldn’t picture me wearing anything else.
On one of the very first mix CD’s that my husband made for me when we were dating was the song “Annie’s Song” by John Denver. It came to be OUR song, and we knew that it would be our first dance song before we were even engaged. Dancing to it at our wedding was so surreal — it was a moment that I’ll remember forever.
